Gadget Notes – 8 Bit Game Console

Date:  April 25, 2017

There are two types of games.  Those that need to spent a lot of time, to build, to earn armour, very sophisticated games, and those that is classified as brain fix game.

As the name imply, brain fix game is to fix your brain’s urge of game playing.  It is usually very simple games, and it requires focus and good reflexes.  Yeap, Jedi reflexes.

And when man invented microprocessors, the early days you can see all these games everywhere.  You can’t really do much thing about 8-bits processor.  So, designing a simply reflex games is the in-thing at that time.  i.e. 1980’s & 1990’s.

I recently bought these 8-bits game console from Amazon for the kids.  And they have not seen anything like this.  So, they pretty focus in playing the games on it.  All the games is testing their eye-hands coordinations, and reflexes.  So, every game becomes a challenge to them.

It kind of look like a Game & Watch (a popular old-timer handheld gaming device that has only one single game on it).

It is very light.  Easy to carry around.  And the battery is using those normal AAA batteries.  You can go buy Ikea rechargeable batter for this.

I gave my son an iPhone when he was 9 years old.  The iPhone we owned until now has no games on it.  It is treated as a “Communications Devices” and “Knowledge know-how-Googling” devices.  He will WhatsApp with friends, Facebook with others, and find info that he wants from the phone.

The reason I don’t install the games on it, is because, that I want to my son to know that “what is a phone?” “what is the purpose of the phone?”

He has his laptop, PC, iPad, etc.  But this small 8-bit gaming device will serve as a brain-fix devices, whenever we go out eating, before the food came, they can play these 8-bit games.  And I think it will be useful to them because it will train their reflexes, and hand eye finger coordinations.

The 8-bits gaming handheld console.
