Apple is a great company. When they come up with a product, version 1 of that product may not necessary be a great product.
But as time goes by, the more they listened to their loyal customers, the more they put in thoughts how to make it better. With that kind of focus, a great version 2 was released.
For 1+ years, Apple Watch series 1 on my hand is just a watch, with the ability to receive notifications and display photos on my screen. That’s it.
But now, it is a running watch. Because, it comes with a GPS. You practically, can run without bringing your iPhone along.

Here is how I does it.
- Firstly, you need a wireless headset. Now, you come to think about it, why does Apple want to come up with their own wireless AirPod? This is the main reason. They want you to run with it.

2. Go to the Apple Watch App on your iPhone, sync some songs to it. I synced all my Karaoke songs folders on it. You have 5GB of space. So, for me, only bring the songs I want to hear. What it does, it will copied these songs onto your Apple Watch. “Hey, by the way, the Apple Watch is also an iPod, yeah!”

3. On the Music App on your Apple Watch, select the music source to Apple Watch, instead of iPhone. Because when you run, you don’t have to bring your iPhone. And the music will play from your Apple Watch to your wireless headsets.

4. Of course, your bluetooth setting have to pair with your Wireless headsets. I am using the Jabba BlueBuds X. Pretty decent stereo.

5. Play the music.

6. Put on the headsets, and you are ready to run! Don’t bring iPhone.

After your run, you can see your performance on the iPhone when you reach home. The GPS will correctly plot the route you took for the run.
That burns 180 calories, and take about 15.28min to finish 2.03km run.

It tells your head rate too compare to your pace. Cool.

I also did a test on the Runkeeper.
Unfortunately RunKeeper does not have the GPS map data. Or I have not found out how to sync it yet. Or RunKeeper is still trying to improve their app to work with Apple Watch Series 2.

So, one of the few benefits I can think of…
a. You will be focus running. Because you don’t bring an iPhone.
b. You still enjoy listening to your favourite music. By wireless headsets and bluetooth to your Apple Watch.
c. You will not be distracted by incoming mails or messages as you don’t bring an iPhone.
d. So, your run will always be a quality run.
