Happy 100th Birthday to Foon Yew High School 宽柔百年校庆万人宴

Date:  Aug 3, 2013

It’s been a long time I stepped into this school gate.  I have my most wonderful student years at this Foon Yew High School.

Foon Yew has been in JB for 100 years.  Tonight is the grand party for 10,000 people.  🙂

During those years, we assemble in front of the school hall let the teacher check hair, check finger nails, check skirts, check shoe. hahaha

Today is the day to spot the teacher who taught you and take photo with him.  The 4th guy from the left is our 王德水老师 who taught us Physics.  Nice to see you again after 25 years.

This is 小DD – 洪来章老师 who taught us Math.

IMG 5104

Every few steps you walked, you bump into an old friend.  This friend 林忠祥 fly from Taiwan to attend this great party.

(Not the girls, look at the words behind on the bridge).

What a suitable wordings to describe our school.  For one hundred years, we build from one small primary school into 5 primary schools, 2 high schools and 1 higher education college.  This is a great achievement.  And still it is the only Chinese Independent high school in JB.

Oh, those girls are our class top elites.

The view of the dinner venue.  Thank goodness there is no rain that day.

The grand stage.  Also sponsors by some alumni who is expert in setting up this International grade stage.

It’s going to be a fun night.  Our table will be served by 新国泰(古来)酒楼.  OK la.  Food so so only.

We came here not to eat.  We came here to gather.  HaHaHa

IMG 5091

More friends.  These friends we knew each other since primary school.  I was transferred from Kuen Cheng (2) Primary in KL to Foon Yew (2) Primary back in 1982.

IMG 5127

The graduates of 1988.  Better take a photo before it turns dark.

IMG 5131

Every table got a ballon.  And they all release it at the same time.

IMG 5134

Let’s the party begin.  Wow, the stage is really big and huge.  With big huge TV screens too.  It is very well done.  I heard that you need RM1Mil to set up something like this.  Thanks for the alumni who own the company and sponsor this whole thing.  I heard he shipped the stage into JB in 14 container trucks.

I think our school is full of talents.  You look at the video and see who is in the video.

Lead singer by non other than Penny Dai.  Yeap, she is also one of us.  I think she is most hard working for the night.  She sang at tables who donate more than 20K-30K.  Some tables donate 100K.

Happy Birthday to Foon Yew!

And I also bought two DVD home.  It is a special television documentary program which air on NTV and Astro.

IMG 5181

I have a chance to show all these to my two sons when I watch with them together the next day.  Let them know how fun can study be.

IMG 5182

It is a memorable day.  Again.

Happy Birthday!  Foon Yew.

That night, the government decided to donate 1 million ringgit.  That night many of us mistaken that the government donate 1亿.  原来100Juta是一百万把了!

And now the school hope for is the government to approve the building of 3rd High School branch at Pasir Gudang.

At present there are 10,000 students going to Foon Yew high school at both the Stulang main branch and the Kulai branch.  That is a lot a lot of students.
