This CNY, I cooked 2 times Pen Cai (盆菜).

This one was done for the good friends CNY gathering.

And these for my family reunion dinner.

A slight change this year.  The prawns and the scallops are placed inside the pots at the last 5-7 minutes to simmer it.  So, it is not too over cook.

I bought both the giant sashimi grade prawns and the Hokkaido scallops from Mediya @ Liang Court.

I am very happy my mom likes the Pen Cai.  And the very first thing she grabs is the big Argentinian prawns.  Yeap, it should be soft enough for her to eat.

Every year, I will renew the ingredient list.  To note down things I want to put inside.

Ingredients has to be as fresh as possible.  Organic is ok.

So, as you can imagine, most of the ingredients are from Japan.

The dried oysters is from Japan too.  The top right is the Hong Kong goose liver sausages.  The bottom right is the bloody duck blood sausages from Hong Kong too.  Perhaps the most delicious ingredients is the century eggs.  A must to put inside your Pen Cai.

It’s CNY Pen Cai for your reunion dinner.  So, don’t be stingy ya!

This is the Japanese sea cucumber.  Almost $100 for these sea cucumbers.

Of course don’t forget the Abalone, the roasted duck and braised duck meat too.

So, the next difficult task is to put all these into the pot.

Pot so small, ingredients is too much.

We had our reunion dinner just down stairs at the Ô Boeuf à 6 Pattes by the swimming pool inside Park West Condo.  We have chef Eric to cook for the rest of the reunion dinner.

He even did the Lohei for us.

Of course we enjoyed it.

Then, his CNY dish is a bit ang moh, thai thai like that.  Grill King Prawns with Thai spicy sauces.

Pork Leg.

Thai steam fish.

Crab meat brocoli.

Chilli crab for one of my niece who loves crab so much.

We had the restaurant to ourselves.  So the kids really enjoy watching chef Eric cooked what we like to eat.

Some beef.

Iberico Pork.  Our favorite.

And a Durian mango sticky rice.  On the house.

With the correct LOVE hand signal.  Some people dont know how to do it.  hahahaha

The 2nd Pen Cai was also using almost similar ingredients.

We used a little bit more mushrooms in this pot.

Lesser veggies.  Who takes up a lot of space.

So, again, another magic hand to arrange it.

Of course, me dirty my hands.

The most important ingredients.

The organization is always not easy.

You have to tried different version of it.  See got the duck head.

But sometimes reality has to come in play, where you need to remove the duck head and a lot of other stuff to make some space to place other stuff.

I am glad every one loves the Pen Cai.

We had a wonderful CNY this year.  It is short and sweet.
