When they were young, very young, I always sing songs with my Ukulele to them.
When they are a bit older, I started and try very hard to read books to them every day before the sleep in bed. Most of the time, they will fall asleep and that is when I stop reading.
And I am sure I did the correct thing. Kay fell in love in reading books.

He loves to read these books.

And you know having a brother at home always a good thing. They learned from each other.

So, I think their English become better. Because of reading books.

This summer, I have changed my strategies.
I started to scan Chinese related stories.

Instead of reading to them English stories, I started to read Chinese story every single night.
Yes, I still read story to them even they are 7 and 10 years old.
Well, they tends to fall asleep much faster this time.
But after 9-10 issues of reading… they started to stay awake. At least trying to stay awake to listen to my interesting reading.
Oh yes, you need to create a lot of sound effects while you read. You need to read with emotions. And you really need to read it with your heart.

And you know it will be useful later on when they pick up reading Chinese story book.
And I was really hoping that day will come early.

Even parents can learn a few things.
To be frank, I really have no idea how I pick up and when I picked and learn my Chinese. But I did it well without following these instructions.

Reading on daily event is a key to make it a success.

And of course the flash cards helps too. If you really want to print those words in his mind.

On average, I need to buy 2-3 books a week for Kay.
And he read it whenever he has time.

Especially during lunch and dinner time.

Having a habit of reading is really a good thing.
And I really enjoy watching them so focus in reading. hahaha

misleading photo, looks as if your son is drinking Sapporo…
BTW, what’s the app with library and Chinese stories, I like, maybe can start reading to my Ah girl…
I actually use a scanner program to scan the actual 知识画报 into PDFs, so that we can turn on the lights and read it…
Genius! Thanks for the tips.Is it a smart phone app that is recommendable for scanning a few pages?
I use the smartphone app to scan the actual physical papers. So that I can turn off the lights and read it to them with the lights off. 🙂
