This year has been a very disappointing year. We have make a lot of trips to capture the stars and milky way, but the weather is not always on our side. We have some success in Loola resort. But our Hokkaido, UK Farm, Cebu all have bad weather.
Luckily, while we are in Curringa farm @Australia, we got this 10-20 minutes window to take some Star or Milky Way Photos.
In fact that is the only day during our Australia trip that has clear sky like this. So blue so nice.
So, we prepared all the camera gears. All the tripod are setup. Now we have to wait for the perfect timing.
Around 8-9pm. There is only one star.
Because the moon is simply too bright.
It is going to be a very tough chance to get a good photo form this trip.
So, my wife did the checking, and found out that, the best time to take the photo is between 4:05am – 4:15am. Before the sun rise.
And hey, it is a VERTICAL milky way. It should be nice.
But I have not learned how to use my ultra wide lens yet.
So I wake up at 3:45am.
The photo is mis-leading. I have a f1.4 lens. So, it takes night photo like a broad day light.
That is where my friend Larry stay. No movement from him. So, I guess he is still sleeping.
This is how I educate my sons.
There are millions of stars out there. Don’t you think there will be one that is like Earth?
Got to be quick. There is only a 10 minutes windows to take the Milky Way.
And I don’t like the sun coming out so fast.
Here it comes!!! Around 4am… This is when the moon set a little and the sun come out a little and the sky goes back to totally dark… and only last for 10-20 min max.
Can see a little Milky Way now..
Getting obvious… Can see the Musca cross. Very obvious now.
This is my best Milky Way photo of the trip.
You can see it… exactly the same… Can see the Musca… yeah…
The windows gone. Somehow…
Only see lots to lots of stars.
My next better photo.
Its getting brighter.
And its gone! The window of taking Milky Way gone very fast. Why?
When the sun comes out, here comes the fog.
But I am very happy. Year 2016, I took a few of the Milky Way.
I have achieved my goal.
Guess what, I only bought my first Mirrorless camera this June 2016. That means, I only learn how to shoot manually this year. But I had a lot of fun with it.
It is a great year. So, my wife cannot laugh at me liao because I can shoot Milky Way photo. Yeah!
So the message to my kids is…
- Its not too late to learn things.
- You always learn things.
- When you learn, set a goal, and eventually you will reach your goal.
- Learning is fun.
