Some Thoughts on Reading Books

Date: Oct 24, 2016

This is a story book.

It is a very thick book.

It is amazing that children nowadays as young as 7-10 years old has developed a good habit of reading books.

Both Jay & Kay reads a lot of books.

For Jay’s case is normal.  He does not like to read story books until when he goes to school and he sees all his peers reading story books, then, he started with Geronimo Stilton, then, until now, he reads very thick story books.

Kay loves to read The Diary of the Wimpy Kids.  That is after we watched the movie of the book itself and he started to read.  He does not like Geronimo Stilton much, but he chose to read books such as Captains underpants, etc.

Today, I teach them a new concept.  This is what I told them…

“You all love to read books.  And always like to read thick thick books.  But daddy called this kind of reading as “Fake Reading” books.  Because, when you all read the books, you don’t think about how the author write it, how they describe the situations, how they put emotions into the writing, and reproduce some of these writers work.”

This is something for them to think about.  Hopefully they can see that…

  1.  The books is their best teacher.
  2. The books can teach them how to write good compositions.
  3. The books will teach them new vacabs.
  4. They can mimic how the writer write some of the sentences.

Let’s hope they can see it this way.
